This is not medical advice
That was some verbal gymnastics to get “shoulder pain” first in the title. It’s better for internet search results.
Most people know Kinesiotape by now, as the flashy and colorful tape used by an American Olympic volleyball player. I’m pretty sure those images went viral, and increased sales of K-tape.
What many people don’t know, is that there is a less sexy cousin to that tape, called Leukotape. This tape doesn’t have rounded edges, it’s square, literally and figuratively. It only comes in brown. However, I think this tape is more effective in certain cases. Pain relief over vanity.
Ktape has some stretchy properties to it. Leukotape is more rigid, and I find that it holds structures better. Although I like using this tape, ultimately it is just a band aide. In this picture and video attached, I am unweighting some tension on a rotator cuff and biceps muscle and tendon. This is not the preferred solution to this problem. Understanding the poor leverage of the shoulder and the mechanics, and strengthening, will help decrease pain, and improve function long term. Those articles can be found on this newsletter in the search tab.

I am going to reach out to BSN - Essity medical to see if they can do a Leukotape make over. Some nicer curves, a little color. Hey, younger generations are more vain. This tape has two parts. How cool would it be to mix and match over each other. Think of all the combos.
This tape can also be effective with certain types of knee pain. I will do a future article for Leukotaping the knee cap.
