Hope it's getting better. You have to pay 1000 bucks for the ER ?

Oh that's right, you're across the pond. I think it's so cool to have conversations with people in other countries. You guys have universal free health care, NHS? (Or it's not free, depending on how we want to debate taxes, healthcare, Thatcher's take on socialism, etc. ) We have a quasi state of stalemate mess of private and public healthcare. Not sure what is worse, but yes, depending on people's deductible, the charge is roughly $1000. Some pay that out of pocket, some qualify for Medicaid, similar to NHS. We have huge debates on this subject here. There are a hundred different angles and arguments. Similar to this argument we had with your country over a tax on tea a long time ago. We have issues :)

Yeah, I just assumed health insurance in the US covered those ER visits as you needed them. Yes I see the debates about it.

An ER visit here is easily 3 hours wait, but can be 6 hours. Waiting list to see a specialist might be a year or even more depending on what it is. Everyone knows the whole thing is buckling under the load, trying to play free doctor for the entire planet. People with money here get private insurance and get treated in private hospitals
